Pearl River LA

You may have access to Pearl River Wildlife Management Area – situated around 6 miles east of Slidell and 1 mile east of Pearl River – either by automobile, from old Highway 11, or you can travel by boat. Multiple ramps are situated alongside U.S. Hwy. 90; concrete ramps are obtainable at Davis & Crawford Landings, as well as its commercial ramp is situated at the Old Indian Village. All ramps alongside U.S. Hwy. 90 and the ones at Davis & Crawford Landings have a ton of parking space available.

The 35,000-acre region is owned by the Louisiana Dep’t. of Wildlife & Fisheries. There are a number of bayous and streams for boating, canoeing, and fishing. Multiple ponds are situated on the northern part of the area alongside I-59. Woodcock, waterfowl, turkeys, feral hogs, rabbits, squirrels, and deer are all found here, in conjunction with bobcat, racoon, opossum, mink, nutria, and beaver. In September, alligator hunting season opens on a permit basis.

The bald eagle makes an appearance alongside the lakes and streams in the winter and fall and the golden eagle occasionally may be seen. Frequently, ospreys and Swallowtail kites are seen. At the Crawford Landing, camping is available. For more details see Pearl River Wildlife or get in touch at 225-765-2360.
